My early love for painting came from the simple joy of making. Today, my passion is sparked by the happiness that my art brings to others.

Hi, I'm Katie Cocca, artist & creator of the Pen and Painted experience. At my core, I am a maker who finds joy in the tangible process, and revels in the subtleties of my craft.

In 2025, I will be marrying my high school sweetheart in a beautiful countryside ceremony. I understand that planning a wedding is all at once the most exciting and the most stressful time of your life, and I am dedicated to making your experience with me as enjoyable as possible.

In my free time you can find me spending time with my lovely fiance and our rabbit Connie, indulging in fancy cheese, going on mini-adventures in my home state of New Jersey, and crafting.

Frequently asked questions

What type of paint/materials do you use?

I use fine watercolor paints and high quality artist pens to craft unique illustrations for your guests. All of the art is created on luxe watercolor paper.

Do you require any sort of special accommodations from my venue?

Setup is minimal and usually does not require much assistance from event staff. I will bring my own supplies and portable lamp. Your site will need to arrange for a small painting table, which should not take up more than 4′ X 6′, indoors or outdoors.

Where are you located and can you travel to my venue?

I am located in Northeast New Jersey, and I do travel!
Locations between 0-60 miles away will not incur a travel fee. Locations between 60-100 miles away will incur a $100 travel fee. Locations between 100-150 miles away will incur a $250 travel fee.
Locations between 150-200 miles away will incur a $750 travel fee, covering time spent traveling, overnight lodging, meals, gas, and other expenses which arise in the process of traveling.

Can you accommodate a large guest count?

Portraits take between 6-10 minutes, with 6-10 portraits being completed per hour. If you are interested in supplying every guest with a portrait, it is $15 per person and these paintings will be completed and shipped to you before the event. Additionally, a waitlist can be set up at your event where guests can supply a photo to the artist. These paintings will be completed and shipped 2-4 weeks after your event.

Why are the paintings faceless? Can you paint faces?

My signature style is not just for an aesthetic appearance, but helps the paintings get produced in an efficient manner. Don't worry! I'll pay close attention to those identifying details like hair, clothes, and accessories.

Do you other events besides weddings?

Yes! This includes birthdays, showers/sprinkles, corporate events, and more. You can use the contact form to learn if there is availability for your event.
